First Sword?

For some of you, if you can remember that far back. What was your first sword?

I first found Ronin Katana back in early 2014, and made my first real sword purchase in March/April of that year. My first and only order was a Dojo Pro #18. Man that thing was gorgeous too. Razor sharp and sleek. I took cutting practice with it once, on a piece of paper. Admired the heck out of it. Then put the sword back in it's Saya, wrapped it up in the sword bag, and put up in the closet. Ended up being forced to sell it barely 2 months later.

A Japanese cavalry sabre from the long-since-vanished Deep River Armory in Houston, TX, for $25 in 1969, followed by a 1450's Norimitsu katana bought for $300 at a gun show. Those were the days..........

1986--New Orleans--band trip.
Saw an iaido daisho ... played trombone on the streets every night buskin for change so I could buy it for 75$ usd. Told the two attendants at the local seafood bar what i was up to and they fed me every night for free so I could afford it...so long as i came in at close I could take bags of crawdads, shrimp, peas n beans n rice etc...etc... etc. Hal and Willy were their names. My trombone case had a buttery shrimp flavour for months afterwards...

1987 was my first real sword. A bastard of a claymohr from a cousin in Caithness scotland arrived for my father who had no interest.... It passed from his hand to my hand then across the world, each of the farflung descendants getting a chance to hold a piece of our family history from the castle at Wick.
